Review on 🍷 Vacu Vin Wine Saver Extra Stoppers, Set of 8: Effortless Wine Preservation and Freshness Retention by Carlos Reyes

What happened to the old ones?

The old corks had a hole in the middle and worked great. You could definitely tell you were pulling air out with the pump and when you squeezed the cork to remove it you could hear the air coming back into the bottle. It was very nice to know that your wine was kept with little air inside all night. It's not these plugs. These new ones (with 4 small holes on top) give almost no indication that anything is wrong. Half the time we go to reopen the bottle from last night but hear absolutely nothing when the cork is removed meaning there was air in the bottle all night and the wine became vile and stinky. I've found that you really have to push down hard on the plug with the pump to pull the air out. However, you don't feel like it does much. After a tug it seems you can't pull it out anymore. After many years of faithful service, my old ones are starting to come out. I bought this type to replace them and was constantly disappointed that I came here looking for old ones thinking I had bought a different brand. Unfortunately Vacu Vin seems to have just discontinued the previous design for this one. I can't recommend it, but haven't found a suitable replacement product yet. UPDATE: I highly recommend you check out the Zazzol brand, which looks almost identical to the old design and works great, albeit a little more expensive. what they are supposed to be.
