I wanted to check how much waste water, so I made a test. After an hour of non-use, I disconnected the water drain hose and put it in a large empty plastic bottle (pictured). Then I poured myself a full glass of water (middle picture). I drank a glass of water. After a few minutes, the water began to drain rapidly into a plastic bottle. I was expecting it to fill the bottle with 3 or 4 times the volume of the glass of water I just drank, but that's not the case. The drain water then filled a plastic bottle, my empty glass mug, 2 other green plastic mugs and a whole medium sized pot. and then I ran out of empty containers within reach, so I shut off the water flow to reconnect it to the drain pipe. I'll never know exactly how much sewage there was, but in my case the amount of sewage was 10 times more to replace the 1 glass of water I drank. Obviously not the most scientific study, but it gives me an idea of how much water is wasted. In an ideal world, I would collect this water and use it to fill toilets, power my drip irrigation system, etc. This is a far cry from my forever home, so I won't be doing it. For now, I'm just glad I don't have to buy so much bottled water.
