Update: Sensor failed after 2 months. I travel frequently and for long periods of time. When I return home after leaving, I use this device to determine if the temperature in my fridge/freezer has reached a temperature where food safety is a concern. I can't say when or how long this happened, but if the freezer was above freezing, I know it's been there a long time and both parts of the fridge may contain spoiled food. Without this device, you would not be able to tell if there was a power outage that caused the temperature to drop to food spoilage levels and then power was restored. and the food seemed normal, but it wasn't.
