Review on πŸ’§ HFS Electric Solenoid Valve for Water - Hydraulics, Pneumatics, and Plumbing by Michael Caste

Only blocks flow in one direction

I expected it to be a valve like any other valve - when the valve is closed the flow stops. However, this only stops flow in the direction indicated by the arrow on the valve. If there is pressure from the other side, it goes through with minimal resistance. I devised a simple cleaning system where different cleaners were pumped through a common pipe to the cleaning target at different times, controlled by a computerized controller. All of these solenoids worked, but when one of the pumps (<20psi) started to pump, fluid flowed backwards through the other solenoids instead of being confined to the flushing purpose as intended. Solenoid valves seem to work, but if you take the opportunity to apply pressure from the target end of the valve, it's better to find another solution.

Pros
  • Industrial & Scientific
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
