Works well for a simple outdoor garden.

Got this and a smart plug and hooked it up to a simple single zone drip irrigation system for my container tied tomato plants. It opens every morning at dawn for about 30 minutes. Outdoors (albeit under a plastic container) it works reliably from the moment of purchase. No complaints, very happy with the purchase. It was very easy to connect/attach the cable to the end of the plug so I could connect it to the smart plug - even I managed not to burn my house down! When connecting to a gardenโ€ฆ

Only blocks flow in one direction

I expected it to be a valve like any other valve - when the valve is closed the flow stops. However, this only stops flow in the direction indicated by the arrow on the valve. If there is pressure from the other side, it goes through with minimal resistance. I devised a simple cleaning system where different cleaners were pumped through a common pipe to the cleaning target at different times, controlled by a computerized controller. All of these solenoids worked, but when one of the pumpsโ€ฆ

It seems that most valves with similar characteristics are actually the same devices.

This is a traditional diaphragm type solenoid valve (no coil). I haven't used this one, but I've used several similar ones in the past. They work. The one I bought this time is my first with commercial size 1/4" fittings. I used them primarily for water but this will be for the air line. The coils are removable, so I'm assuming the actual part of the valve (for a given port size) is the same, and they just swap out the coils for different voltages. The wires aren't too long, so you'll mostโ€ฆ
