The timer has large digits; the sound is good, with good duration. I love that it has an ON/OFF switch as it's only used once or twice a day. Any timer setting will of course be lost if the timer is switched off at the switch. I expect the battery (an AA) to last a long time between charges. The force of the magnet was low because the magnet did not come into contact with the metal - even a small air gap "weakens" the magnetic force. I laid a sheet of fine sandpaper on a flat surface and began rubbing the back of the timer against the sandpaper until the magnet had light scratches. Then the magnet stuck well to the metal surface, and that suits me. If you're using a shelf timer with a fold-down back, the timer is fine. Good product, good price.
