I've been using this little guy in my bedroom for the last few months (winter) and it definitely helps to increase the humidity. I usually have very dry skin that cracks and flakes no matter how much lotion I use, but so far I've needed/used lotion but no further cracking/peeling. Just lay it on the floor in the path of heat escaping from my (ceiling) vents. Feel very good about this purchase (and it's cute). It works as advertised for 4 hours and then shuts off automatically. So I'll run it twice every night, just turn it on every time I get up in the middle of the night to go potty. After two uses (8 hours of use), it's time to add water. I'm skeptical how it will hold up through the summer months if I don't use it without the Q-Tip becoming uncomfortable, but there's a replacement so for the price I'll be happy with that.
