WHAT DON'T WANT?

UPDATED BELOW (June 6, 2021). EXCELLENT design, construction, durability, practicality, price. I've been using OM for 45 days, once a day, with a full mouth full of teeth (except the wise ones) *NO BRACES* and plan on getting rid of it in 2 months whether I need it or not. After about 2 weeks of use, the conical shape became more cylindrical; a month later the bristles lost some diameter and regularity (somewhat "sloppy"). I have only used other brands of interdental brushes in the past so I cannot adequately compare them to others on the current market. But my other brand (white and blue Plackers, discontinued model) only lasted about a week before breaking. The secret seems to be to keep it clean and avoid bending/bending/twisting the wire. The cap that comes with each jack should help in either case. The OM has a slightly smaller wire diameter than my Plackers model but seems more resistant to bending. Size can be an issue. It would be helpful if OM provided samples but they provide a lot of detailed specs online. Remember that descriptions of OM (narrow to broad) refer to gaps at the gum line, not gaps between the bodies of teeth. In fact, you may have a longer life than me as I use the brushes on an Oral-B Hummingbird Vibrating Flosser (also discontinued) which I have adapted to work with interdental brushes. I can't imagine a vibrator being less rough on the hand than using it by hand. You can also even out wear (and extend life) by systematically rotating the brush a quarter turn (90 degrees) to better even out wear around the bristles. I'll try this on my 2d OM and post an update if that doesn't work. My cost: $0.28 @, including shipping ("free"). UPDATE: I got two extra weeks for the second brush by rotating the angle and balancing the wear more evenly; a full two months of use with a less "sleazy" appearance!

Pros
  • Oral Care
Cons
  • Cord is shorter than other picks
