Review on πŸ”Œ NAXA NAB-4003 Wireless Audio Adapter: USB Bluetooth Connectivity for Superior Sound (Black) by Dan Venegas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Wireless Only: Imperfect, but I agree

I have to start with this: I had to replace mine after about a year. My cell phone is no longer connected to it. Luckily for $10 it's easy enough to replace. I have a 2011 GMC Acadia and found this little device to add BT audio. I've searched far and wide and this is the only product of its kind. All other BT car adapters are wired. It's not perfect, but since it's the only fully wireless option (not counting kits that need to be professionally installed behind the dash) and it's only $10 (at the time of purchase), I'll take it. What I like about it is that it's simple, no cables and technically it gets the job done. What I don't like about it: * As everyone has said, there is a delay between sound changes (start, next track, volume change), but in my experience it's not as long as everyone says. A few seconds, a maximum of 10, but more often 3-5. The stop is more or less immediate. Maybe it's Acadia, I don't know.* As almost everyone has said, playback can be a bit choppy. Some days it's more noticeable than others. It can be a little annoying when you're rocking out in the car all by yourself and the beats suddenly change tempo. It's not so bad when the music is more spatial.* As some have said, the sound quality is pretty bad. It sounds like a heavily compressed MP3 from the past. It's not scary and I have a hard time pointing it out to my girlfriend, but it's a hiss; they sizzle a little. That's probably my biggest complaint. My phone sounds ten times better when plugged directly into a USB port. But I have a USB cable that runs through my dash.* At least in my car, I don't have a regular USB display on the stereo. If I connect the phone directly, I can control it with the stereo buttons and get the title and artist information on the display. Nothing of the sort through Naxa, however. There's no display, and for some reason the pause button actually mutes the audio but doesn't pause the phone. It just turns off the sound. So here's what. * First thing I had was to auto start the phone after startup. My second not. Not sure what's wrong, but personally I prefer auto play. I always listen to music on my phone so I want it to play by default. I don't understand why there isn't a big market for this type of device and why the manufacturer can't put a bit of emphasis on R&D. make one that worked really well. I would pay for it. Personally, I'm willing to trade the downside for not having wires, and since it's the only option and only costs $10, I'm pretty happy with it.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Protection
