My previous experience with oil based products has been that they have a vibrant color and mix well. This was not the case with oil-based colored pencils. The packaging they came in was fine, but the pencils were difficult to sharpen with a Staedtler sharpener. Leads broke very easily, and pencils were apparently dropped or thrown because the leads in the wooden box broke. As another reviewer mentioned, the pens aren't marked with color names or numbers, so it's difficult to find a color you want to reuse. They were difficult to mix, particularly as they did not produce a creamy color coat but broke easily under the pressure required for effective mixing. Pencils were offered at student prices, but disappointment at poor quality would likely discourage an art student. I only used them in a coloring book to relieve stress and I was discouraged.
