Review on πŸ”‘ ACDelco D1456C GM Original Equipment Ignition Lock Cylinder: Reliable Replacement Part for Optimal Vehicle Ignition Performance by Vedprakash Trilltight

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great price and repairs broken VATS wiring causing SECURITY issues. A new VATS compliant key is required.

Fixed security indicator issues on a 1994 Camero. With these devices, the cables always break, so to speak, at the ignition cylinder by turning the cylinder several times. In order for this device to work properly in your GM vehicle, you will also need to make a new key from the blank provided. To do this you need to check the original key to see what resistance value the new keys need. There are 15 possible values, a google search should show various resistors, mine was #15 11,800 ohms. You can then order blanks from Revain or another source. Local locksmiths usually have these in stock and can also reinstall them on site. Installation requires removing the steering wheel on most GM models. After removing the steering wheel, you will need to remove the airbag clock spring (if equipped). , steering lock plate and indicator plate. The ignition cylinder is then held in place with a torx screw, remove it, disconnect the orange wires under the dash and pull the unit out. I found it best to tie a string to the orange connector to thread it through the speaker so I can use that string to thread the new connector back through the speaker.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
