Having recently purchased a steam deck as well as an L-shaped table, I thought the current state I have might work well for a desktop mode steam deck. So let's start with the fact that a standalone monitor needs its own power source. Using the steamdeck as a power source was not enough to turn on the screen. That means I had a few more cables around my new setup. Nothing bad! There is nothing to say about the picture quality. This is an average and shows the average number of colors. It's not very bright, but it's not dark either. Again, the screen brightness is average. There's a volume knob on the side that's spring-loaded (yeah, weird, right?). Drag it up to increase the volume and down to decrease it. The default volume control is in the middle. There is also a very small on/off button. It's above the volume control, you can't miss it. Maybe it's just me, but I can never tell when it's on or off as there's no indication of it other than turning on the connected device. The biggest problem I have is that there is significant latency. At first I thought Steamdeck was having trouble detecting my mouse, but I replaced it with another one I had on hand and the lag was the same. I've tried playing a few games and my biggest testament is when the sound effects turn on and when they pop up. There is a serious discrepancy in time between them, they almost do not agree. This led me to believe that this device is not a good component for gaming. I suppose it would be good for watching videos. Now that I think about it, I don't think it would be good even for professional use. The delay is very noticeable. The company actually sends you an email after your purchase, which says in the first paragraph that you should try to contact them if there is a problem before writing a Revain review. I suspect this is a way to convince people not to overload their review page with negatives, but I don't think so. Thing is, this screen is pretty mediocre, and that's to be expected for the price. Yes, it's very light and portable, but latency shouldn't be a compromise! I've done my best to give this screen an unbiased review, but it's not good for my intended purchase. Do not buy this for Xbox, PS5 or Steamdeck.
