Review on Makita HR4013C 1 9 Rotary Hammer by Scott Goff

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Professional quality at a very reasonable price

UPDATE AUGUST 2020: I'll probably smooth it out, but this machine still works. I use it for almost everything, a few times a month, floor cleaning, concrete drilling, chiseling, all types of demolition work where a heavier machine wouldn't fit, and even digging. I couldn't have dreamed of a better car. It's the perfect combination of weight and performance, at least for digging. I used it to dig over 200 linear feet of a 24" deep, 24" wide trench in medium density clay/disintegrated granite soil. It cut through the ground like butter but was light enough to hold with one hand, which I often did. The guy shoveling dirt behind me couldn't even keep up with me. The anti-vibration technology worked well; After running this for almost 7 hours straight for 4 days it will tire you out no matter what, but for the most part it was fairly comfortable to use. I have no doubt that it is even better suited for tile demolition than digging. Build quality is impeccable and there's every reason to believe it will last through many more projects, although it paid off on the first run.

Pros
  • Built-in dampening spring at the base of the firing pin is designed to absorb impact vibration from the drill
Cons
  • Crumpled
