I found out about this handy gadget while watching a DVD by Ian Beeney and Jean Lightfoot, master textile artists in England. Jean demonstrated it and said it's stored in your "muzhifer". At least I think that's what she said. Husifer is a small case for needles, scissors, etc. that fits in an embroiderer's purse. It comes from the word housewife. Once you learn how to use it to cut thread, it's pretty easy to use.
