I bought these to replace ugly lights in our family room downstairs in a converted basement. The ceiling height is less than 8 feet so I wanted something flush with the drywall which is very close. The real flush required cutting large holes in the drywall and I wanted to avoid that damage. These squares are about 1 inch high, which is normal. The price was great, <$30. I bought 2 and the room is 16" x 24". There are only a few windows here. The old CFL lights had a warmer tone and I knew I wanted daylight. Color (about 3000K) but wasn't sure it would be perfect. It was a good choice as there are 3 color options: warm, daylight and outrageously bright hospital. I use a medium setting and the color is like daylight but to be honest they are too bright. They are not dimmable so I (unfairly) deducted 1 star. I knew that when I bought them, but now I regret my choice. They're easy to install and came with electrical plug-in connections, which I like better. I installed the mounting plate upside down, the directions aren't good and I was disappointed when the light didn't hit the plate. There are 3 wires, Ground/Copper, White and Black It's pretty clear how to connect. They're plastic, so don't expect a sleek look. My ceiling is white, so they're not very noticeable when they're off. When turned on, they look like light tubes or super bright lamps.
