Review on IPad 8Th Generation Case With Keyboard by Heather Genevish

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nicely designed keyboard/ipad case

Although Apple's touchscreen and virtual keyboard work very well, I always feel a bit uncomfortable using the keyboard to do more than just quick notes and email - Write answers. With this external keyboard, I turned my iPad into a very comfortable, lightweight laptop. The case/keyboard definitely adds some bulk, but that's to be expected. The case seems to provide effective protection and the ability to position the screen is a nice feature. The only reason I lowered the battery life is because the device is new and I haven't had an opportunity to drain the battery with extended use. I agree with the annoyance noted by another reviewer that the case doesn't use a Lightning connector for charging so you have to have an extra cable and carry it, but for anyone using a non-Apple phone, this is probably not even a nuisance . The keyboard is responsive, with good feel and key travel/feedback. The key backlight is a nice feature and I was surprised to learn that it's not just a cosmetic highlight but can actually be handy in certain situations to choose a non-distracting key backlight. As mentioned, the case is solid and holds the iPad in place as you would expect. This practical need makes it somewhat difficult to insert and remove the tablet from the case. For many people it won't matter as they will keep it on all the time. I love being able to carry a very light and thin iPad around on my own when I'm just using it for browsing, e-books and watching YouTube/streaming, so it's a bit more inconvenient than the lightweight magnetic mount on my Surface or newer iPads , but price and the functionality it offers, it's really a very good compromise.

Pros
  • Great choice
Cons
  • too dull
