Review on Sioux Chief 660-TK Mini Rester: Female Swivel Nut with Male Ballcock Thread - Brass/Antique Brass by John Roby

5 for Function, 1 for Performance

The good news is that once installed correctly it stopped rattling when the toilet fill valve was closed. Totally eliminated in the toilet I installed it on, mostly damp in the upstairs toilet just above. The bad news is that extra effort is required to prevent a leak. The body consists of two parts, with a threaded nipple that screws into the arrester body and accommodates the socket sleeve. The nipple was carelessly smeared with pipe grease on the threads and wasn't screwed tightly into the body, so it was leaking like crazy. I unscrewed the nipple, wrapped the threads in teflon tape and added a nipple for security, then screwed it in, held the body of the flame arrester in a vise and tightened the nipple with a 5/16" hex wrench inserted into the Nipple was inserted Allen (similar to a valve seat). So it seems like a good product but the factory quality control is poor. If you don't have a few tools, you most likely have a leak. Your clue will be that the flame arrestor body will rotate freely after you screw it onto the tank valve fitting. I also had to replace the supply hose with a longer one so I could make a full loop in the hose. A short one that demanded a too sharp bend from me and wanted to bend. Sorry, didn't think to take a photo. You would clarify this question.
