Updated review after ordering a second pair 23 months after purchasing the first pair:============ == == =========================================: I have a second one ordered pair and just started wearing them. The new couple is looking good so far. However, I made the mistake of ordering Gunsmoke Gray instead of the color of my first Dark Earth pair. I HATE the Gunsmoke Gray color which is so different from the website that I hate it. I had trouble swapping them out. I don't really want to return them as the sale has ended and I'll probably have to pay full price for a replacement color, but I just don't like this color. Otherwise the new Jungle Mocs are good. They're comfortable and don't have the squeaking problem my first pair had until I fixed them (see my original review below for details). new but not too loose to wear. My plan when ordering a new pair was to continue to wear the old pair as everyday indoor shoes and only wear the new pair to work. The first pair, Dark Earth, has discolored after nearly two years of daily wear. but not as bad as I feared after two years. But I mainly work on the computer and meet people. If I had worked differently, the shoes might have looked a lot worse. My new pair is Gunsmoke Gray which I don't like and regret ordering. I don't use them for hiking or any other hiking - I prefer running shoes or hiking shoes for that - so I have no opinion on how they hold up. outside the sidewalk. All in all, these are great shoes. First Review Updated: After 16 months of daily wear I'm still happy with these shoes although I'm a bit disappointed that they seem to stretch which makes the shoe feel looser. One of the shoes was my biggest concern after purchase, but the trick I detailed in my original review (below) did the trick. The shoes never creaked again. I recommend this shoe. First Rating: ============ The shoes are fine since I learned to stop them from squeaking. Many Merrell owners complain about this problem. Only my right shoe creaked. The left boot never creaked. The creaking of my right boot was barely audible at first, but after three weeks it got so loud that I realized I couldn't live with it. I was ready to return them to Revain but luckily I did some research first which allowed me to fix the issue. I've owned the shoes for two months now and I'm completely satisfied. I solved the problem by placing two dryer sheets (fabric softener sheet) under the insole of the squeaky shoe. I doubted it would work but the squeaking stopped immediately and after five weeks the squeaking is still gone. I read that there is another solution - to sprinkle talc under the insole. I bought a traditional moc with a round cleat, not a vibram sole. If I were going to use this shoe for hiking, I'd go for the Vibram sole, but I prefer lace-ups for rough terrain. I wear them as everyday shoes. They are perfect for that. When I walk a trail, I wear hiking shoes or sneakers. I bought Jungle Mocs to replace a pair of imitation Jungle Mocs (Hathaway Comfort Moccasins) that I've worn for six years and have held up well but have never been comfortable. . Merrells are a huge improvement in comfort over imitations. I hope they hold up as well as the faux loafers I've worn before. I considered giving one star for the squeak, but it was so easy to resolve that I decided to give the shoes a full five stars.
