No-frills curling iron. There is an on/off button and that's it. There are no temperature controls on the device, and the temperature regime specified in the instructions does not coincide with that on the package. The manual and the box say 200 degrees Celsius, and then the box says a maximum of 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Well, 200°C equals 392°F, so I'm not sure if it's 392°F or 450°F, or what temperature. All I know is that it is very hot and can easily burn you because there is no clamp bar or anything to separate the hot plate from the person. This one is also a bit tricky to handle as there is no clamp. I had to wrap my hair around the conical stem. With long hair this is easier as I have short and medium hair. It works, but takes some getting used to and learning. In addition, the curls become much lighter and do not last long. This makes for an incredibly looser curl than anything else. For me personally this is nothing. I prefer clip curling irons. If you have long hair (which I no longer have), this would be perfect for creating those side curls that some young girls like to wear. However, the barrel gets very hot and is exposed, so the potential risk of burns is high. The current price of $12 is certainly very reasonable.
