Finally got around to getting them out. They need sharpening, but that's to be expected. Four notches were not ground properly. One rib was crooked, the other had a difference in length between the sides of the rib and the center of the rib of more than 1/16. The other two were sharpened obliquely and in waves. The metal appears to be good, but the lack of quality control in the grinding and shaping of the edges is a concern. If you don't have access to a slow speed grinder or a good selection of different grits, this may not be the best choice. I spoke to Schaaf and they quickly replaced her. Spare parts were shipped directly from China. Looking at them I can see that they tried to rework and clean up the grind a bit, they did this by sharpening the edge at a different angle than the rest, albeit a notch. The other 3 were better than the originals they sent me, but still cut diagonally rather than square on the edge. In the end, the metal seems good, but be prepared for extensive stone work and even low-speed grinding to shape it. and properly sharpened as the factory obviously has no ability to do this and may not even know what is right.
