Just don't store it vertically with the writing end: the ink doesn't want to bleed again, and it tends to bleed onto things if you don't want it if it's stored upside down (so better store it horizontally!). In addition, the instructions for silver skin marking pencils state that they should not be used on vegetable tans. This skin is too porous and the ink doesn't wash off well (if at all).
