Description of Holsten Leather Silver Marking Pens (12pk): Enhance Your Leathercraft Projects with Precision Markings

Perfect for marking out cut lines for leather patterns. Leaves a silver mark that is easy to see. Made for use with smooth finished leathers. Wipes off after use. May not wipe off of unfinished leathers, will not wipe off of vegetable tanned leather. Marks on both front and back of most leathers.

FILLINGS, no pins! - Craft

it also says pencils, and those are mines! I'm hoping to find a pen that can be used with these tubes. They look like regular sized pipes so it shouldn't be too heavy.

You have no ink.

They work great for a few minutes. Then no ink comes out. It does not wash off the skin. I used 5 in the first week before giving up and throwing them away. Don't waste money.

Pros
  • Kraft
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Good quality with some caveats.

Very good. . . Just don't store it vertically with the writing end: the ink doesn't want to bleed again, and it tends to bleed onto things if you don't want it if it's stored upside down (so better store it horizontally!). In addition, the instructions for silver skin marking pencils state that they should not be used on vegetable tans. This skin is too porous and the ink doesn't wash off well (if at all).

Pros
  • Crafts and sewing
Cons
  • Expensive

Better than anything I've used

There are tons of vinyl/leather sticks out there and everyone claims they dissolve. These are reusable and really work the best. Silver does not accidentally rub off when processing the material, but leaves no permanent stains. To remove heavier stains on soft vinyl apply a drop of mineral oil to the area, even your sewing machine material will work just fine and won't damage the texture. Also make sure your work area is evenly lit. I've found that sometimes a light source makes it difficult to
