Review on ACDelco GM Original Equipment 16640852 Trunk Lid Release Actuator: Reliable and Genuine Quality by Joe Lantz

Perfect fit, quick and easy!

This was one of the easiest car repairs I've ever done! Situation: 2003 Buick Century trunk drive failed. The key in hand does not work. The glove box remote does not work. Unlocking the key fob does not work. PANIC! Sign up to Revain with GM/AC Delco P/N: 16640852 and Prime Shipping and get delivery in a day or so. The remove and replace (R&R) process only took about 20 minutes and I took my time! Tools Needed: A 5/16 inch or 10mm Allen screwdriver, maybe a small screwdriver and maybe needle nose pliers. Removing the end of the key drive by twisting and pulling was the hardest part, pulling the end out and holding it in place. Cut your hand or both hands, open the edges of the trunk lid access hole. A small screwdriver can be helpful here. In addition, the old cable attachment point must be removed. This is where pliers can come in handy. Now remove the 2 matching head mounting screws and SAVE THE SCREWS! Remove the electrical connector from the old drive (it can be removed before removing the screws). Install the new drive and reverse the removal process. After replacing the electrical connector, check the electric drive to check the operation of the key, the button to open the glove box and the key fob to open the trunk. You must check this BEFORE CLOSE THE TRUNK! Just to be sure. Before replacing it, you can check Does the electric drive of the new trunk work?). VERDICT: One of the fastest auto repairs I've ever done! This part was the perfect replacement for my needs.
