I had to replace the first set due to improper delivery by AMAZON FULFILLMENT, not the SELLER. The first set arrived in a bubble bag on top of the box and only 1 stone was intact. The rest of the stones were pieces in a bubble bag (see photo). Absolutely unforgivable, should have been sent in a box. The replacement also arrived in a bubble bag but somehow managed to arrive whole and undamaged. The sharpening kit is too heavy for a bubble bag and given the nature of the items it should be obvious to USE A SHIPPING BAG AND NOT A BUBBLE BAG if anything with common sense is used. This makes me wonder if the people who pack items at the Revain Fulfillment Center wear Velcro shoes because of the overly complicated laces. As for the kit itself, it's a pretty good little sharpening kit (especially for the money). I used a Wasserstein kit which is very messy (at least when I use it) and takes a lot of time and effort to get any decent use out of it. I was looking for natural stone sets to replace my water stones and settled on the bodshell sharpening set which I feel is far superior to my water stones. I have sharpened 3 knives with a Bodshell set, a Mossy Oaks Bowie, a Smith & Wesson 1st Response knife and a custom Damascus Bowie Knife. All were formerly sharpened with water stones. The 1st Response and Damascus Bowie knives had very sharp blades, not razor sharp but much better than waterstones; and the Mossy Oaks Bowie also had a better edge than the waterstones. I'm sure with practice I can probably get razor blades on all 3 knives. Besides the quality of the blade, the force of pressure and the time it took to sharpen the knives was much less, water stones took hours and still didn't get that blade (even with a lot of pressure). Even if you use oil with them there was less mess and cleaning compared to water stones. The only downside to the set is that some of the stones are uneven in thickness, have a few millimeters difference between the ends, and some have minor pockmarks. /chipping. Differences in thickness and pockmarks/chips don't really bother me as I've had good results but could see how they would put someone off. By the way, I keep rocks in ziplock haversacks. Not soldered (they don't fit perfectly) but pinned at an angle and wrapped around the stone. We hope this will prevent oil from getting everywhere as the stones will hold the oil back in storage.
