Install once and listen for years, so the weight of this rating is reasonable. Installation is conceptually simple. Cut a hole in the drywall, insert the speaker into the hole and tighten the 6 screws. Turn the screws holding the mounting tabs behind the drywall, and then tighten them until you can. Instead, you turn the screw and the tabs turn, and then the screws get stuck and you can't turn them. I consider it my win if I manage to get at least two of the six battens to hook onto the drywall. But when you're done, they'll look and sound better than you'd expect. I would give them four if the setup (I bet 4) wasn't so frustrating. Sound balance and power output are good. They won't do deep bass, but they shouldn't. I recommend them a 100 watt amp and at about 3/4 volume they handle everything I need. Note that I'm using them for special effects, not audiophile home theater; It's really impossible to get perfect sound out of every wall speaker. But they sound really good, especially for the price. The mid-woofer motor feels solid and solid; the environment seems appropriate; The mounting surface isn't very large, but it's perfectly adequate. Don't forget to point the tweeter towards your listening position as this is really important. When planning your wall construction ahead of time, try to give them 18" x 31" (or slightly more) room to work. and use 2x6 studs for the wall if you can (2x4 will work). Put some plaster inside the box to make it a little firmer and make the inside of the box slightly uneven - the rougher the better - and insulate as you would an outside wall, but make sure the insulation doesn't break any part of which touches the speaker bracket. It's probably just as good as it is in terms of dampening resonances. Addendum: Downgrade to 3 stars. The fact that I couldn't get all the mounting tabs meant the speaker gasped at any deep bass. A drill came in to get the tabs to behave. It worked, but in one case a screw broke through the black mounting plate and the other speakers still rattled. Removed and fixed the issue by reinstalling the rattling speaker. The dealer suggested that the rep lace up the problematic units, but everything works as is, so I won't bother with the uninstall and delivery. Please note that warranty information is not listed on Revain. You'll have to do some digging to find it and it's a year and the usual reservations. Since you are cutting a hole in your wall and the hole is no longer good after the speaker fails, I would insist that the seller extend the warranty. A year doesn't shorten it.
