This is a nice retractable outlet, but it's pretty obvious it's never been tested for safety and certifications (e.g. UL or ETL). The exposed contacts inside are protected by a small, flexible plastic flap that's supposed to keep them from making contact with anything else, but nothing is holding them in place. If there are incoming cords in the socket, they can disturb the area around the plug and cause friction. The terminal block for connecting the incoming wires is awfully tight on the edge of the metal case and is generally annoying. It comes with a nice big metal mounting box but considering it looks custom for the part you'll be stuck once installed. Good luck finding another socket that matches this box. There is a small tab at the top that you push away from the socket to open/close, but you must hold it fully until the socket opens. high. Other than that, it's stuck in about 4 different places, including both USB ports. I'm not sure if the metal tab touches the USB connector, but if it does, that's another hazard as it shorts out the USB connector! I really wanted to use this in my new house but it's making me too nervous, go for it.
