Okay I fell for the smooth lines and didn't listen to the reviews. I join the chorus that instructions are worthless. The diagrams don't help. I installed a few ceiling fans in my time so I knew what I was doing but still. It wasn't until I fought this thing for hours that I realized the winter fan was irreversible. (Isn't it winter in China?) The bright light that many complained about didn't bother me. In any case, I needed a bright universal lamp for folding clothes. What was silly is that the fan doesn't remember the light's color temperature setting and resets every time you turn it off with the remote. I really want to return it but I'm afraid to take it off the covers and repackage the damn thing.
