Wow, THIS is a dog coat now! I bought this for my Smooth Border Collies. This item is definitely a horse blanket that is oversized to dog size, thick, durable and well made. This is a *warm* coat, not a lightweight summer raincoat. The lining is a smooth, quilted material that won't pick up dog hair or dirt. It's easy to put on, just place it over your dog's head and pull the strap across the chest/belly between the front paws and down the sides. The velcro straps on the belly are very easy to use and adjust and there is a nice chest cover that has a thick elastic band under the neck. The collar around the neck is a nice touch, although the dog might be able to reach into the corners to nibble on it, so I'd suggest not leaving your dog unattended in this coat if you think he's fiddling with the collar becomes. Haven't had a chance to test this coat in the rain yet but am already impressed with the construction and quality. I will attach photos of my three dogs in our fur coat. Wool size 22. The man weighs 48 pounds, the two girls weigh about 32 pounds each, with one girl being taller and slimmer than the other.
