Review on Jack Richeson Riches Signature Pastels by Gelin Battle

Fantastic and great value starter kit

I'm a bit of a connoisseur of pastels and although I didn't purchase this kit from Amazon I realized it didn't have any reviews and I needed to tell someone how awesome it was it is. Like many other artists, I wasn't too familiar with this pastel brand. It's not as popular as Sennelier or Rembrandt so I was extremely cautious and never bothered to try them as I've never heard rave reviews or anything like that. Luckily I got to test them at a trade show a few weeks ago and was very impressed! The pigment is deep and rich, they're firm enough to make a good base for soft pastels but not crumbly (I'm looking at you sennelier!), pure pigments as Unison, they're half the price too. They are quite large, much larger than many half sticks, and they have wraps. Most half stick sets do not come with sleeves. Some people don't like packaging but I like it so that when I first get it I can make a color chart quickly and easily. With them, you get a VERY cheap price. The box they come in isn't the best I've seen. A little cheap but as long as it keeps them safe it's not a problem for me! In short, these are underrated pastels and hopefully that doesn't stop you from trying them out because they're really fun. use. I'll update this review when I'm done with them!
