I have a few of these and I honestly think the vast majority of people who give them bad grades just don't read instructions and are stupid. in free state - it is not installed in a door, it is opened wide with a V-shaped gap. This creates tension in the doorway. It's like a spring that you close to hold it in place while you adjust the bolts so the gate and its frame are parallel and close properly. Without that tension, it won't stay in place. They are easy to install and use. However, one of my two had a manufacturing defect where the bottom latch was misaligned with the slot it snaps into. I finally took the gate apart when I needed it that night and found that the hinge on the underside was not fully seated before screwing it down. So I took it off, pushed it all the way in, drilled a new screw hole and put in a new larger screw since the old and new holes overlapped. It was literally 3mm off, but that was enough to stop it from working. Now it works perfectly and is used several times a day and has no problems. For the price I wish I had found them sooner as I've tried a few others that I don't like, they are good value for money. Money, just read the installation instructions and don't overtighten the screws or you won't close the gate. It's pretty easy to see the gap until it's right.
