I was about to replace the side of the power tailgate as it would not stay open. And I planned to replace both sides. However, I thought I'd try swapping out just the non-powered side to see if that would lessen the problem. The side without board costs 1/10 of the cost. So I bought this brace, replaced the old one in less than 10 minutes and now the tailgate is holding up. This may still result in replacing the performance side in the future (or just the other non-performance side if it wears out sooner), but $20 is better than $200.
