update: after my last check i noticed that it stopped working, turns on and off when i try to use it and doesn't always come when I unfold the tip. I've tried a new dough that gives the same results; Previous Review: I am looking for a thermometer to demonstrate how to check calibration for my class and also as a class gift; It was calibrated but their battery died so I added my own. I prefer a thinner tip so I can test a few others before making my decision. I've decided to keep it, but I'm still looking for the best quality for my class; I've also noticed that it doesn't always work, when I open it it turns on out of the blue; This will be a throwback
