Now I have this item. First of all, it's the only item of this type that I was able to find in my three hours of searching, so in a way I'm glad I was able to find it at all. It looks very nice and works as advertised and I am going to install it in my smoker. The downgrade from five to three stars is that the gauge and block electronics are not bolted to the case. So when I removed the front plastic screen, which had to be done to replace the battery, the meter and electronics inside the case spun and the black button on the back came out of its hole, and with it the plastic on the front don't fit properly. It took me a little time to figure it out and reconfigure the button on the back. After that, the plastic was installed normally. But every time I change the battery I have to be aware of this fact. The instructions also indicate that the device is not waterproof. That should have been in the specification. The front is padded so I would say the front is waterproof. The back isn't waterproof as the wire hole and buttons aren't sealed, but I used chalk to help with that.
