Look I know what you're thinking: Here's a guy giving this one a star because he's an idiot and can't use the aquarium heater properly. That's what I usually think when I read a bad Revain review. Not correct. I've kept reef aquariums for a long time. Eheim Jäger heaters were once bulletproof. The times have changed. I recently had a disaster with one of these heaters (300w version). I have used this heater with a Ranco controller along with a 20 year old Rena skylight. I bought Jäger in July 2015 while doing my current build. My ground fault continued to function today and upon investigation I found that the wires from the heater housing had melted and the heater pipe was flooded with water. My fish were shocked almost to death and luckily recovered, but they were all lying sideways on the bottom. Thank goodness none of my kids put their hands in the pan or tank or they would have gotten a pretty good jab. See the photos below for details. I would never buy one of these heaters again in 100 years. Never.
