Review on πŸ”§ HFS Screwless Toolmaker Precision Grinding by Robby Fingaw

Odd sizes are good for hand tools

I'm pretty sure I know what their factory setting is. A guy who does a pretty good job on the first pass and a guy who came in drunk on the second pass. First, they are not custom made. So if you order a pair and then want to use them for a two point piece, you will at least have to do some grinding or adjusting a lot on the indicator. The pine bed is flat, of a consistent size and appears to be in good shape hence a B+ here. Microns to 0.7988 +/- 0.0002 in 8 points on two vices. The main level of the fixed jaw is fine, but not equal between the vise. Mics at 0.7401 on both ends for one, 0.7328/0.7325 on both ends for the other. Such a nice square, but there are 8,000 size differences between the two vises, so you'd better have a pretty good grinder handy. The secondary layer on a solid jaw is bloody awful. One wasn't straight at 0.0008, the secondary plane on the other wasn't straight at 4k in terms of back surface! Basically makes it useless. And there are also a few inconsistencies. Don't bother checking squareness now, but I'm, shall we say, not overwhelmed with confidence. You're like nothing, if you're up for the trouble, just know what you're getting into.
