My son enjoys playing with this toy but not quite the "racetrack "

My son is now 22 months old and I wanted to get him a fun toy to play with and he has had enough of other toys. It took about 25 minutes to assemble this toy as you have to connect the pieces together. It's lightweight yet fairly durable. My 22 month old could drag it from the living room to the dining room on day one lol. On the first day, he just pushed two bars forward (music plays and lights up, which he really liked). On the second day I decided to count backwards (I would say 3, 2, 1, GO!). Then I could teach him to push both levers on the GO and the cars would move around the track. My son is quite high in the 90th percentile so he can easily reach and pull down the levers, although sometimes he doesn't get the lever on the first try and has to push again. What I don't like about this toy is that it's not actually a "race track". One side is longer than the other, so it's not exactly a fair race in that sense. However, for fun I parked both cars and pushed the levers (simultaneously) and when the cars collided in the middle zone I saw that the cars went off track and didn't always go the same way. For me I actually got 6/4 which means the car on the left makes 6 right turns which is the natural progression if there was no accident. So "race" is possible, but not in the way you might think when you hear the word "race" on the track. Also, there's a yellow barrier that I find pretty useless. It doesn't actually stop the machines (you have to keep it closed). So I took off a star because my son still enjoys playing with it. We'll be having a second child soon, so maybe he'll like it more when they're bigger.

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • I won't say anything
