I needed HDMI on my RTX 2080 for another device (drawing tablet) but it was taken by Oculus Rift. In the meantime, an unused VirtuaLink USB-C port was available on the GPU. The Accell adapter was the solution to this very problem. Not only did this free up HDMI for my drawing tablet, it also freed up a USB3 port on the motherboard, making effective use of the Virtua Link RTX 2080 connector to reach for the Rift headset (that is, I personally don't need one since I actually sitting at my desk most of my VR time, but still).
