I used this to reinforce a sagging cedar fence door. The design of the door didn't lend itself to the diagonal braces, so I attached them to each corner joint with stainless steel screws. They worked exactly as expected and the door is holding up great. A note: the screw holes are fairly close together, in a straight line. This can cause the wood to splinter, so I actually set them crooked, about 5-10 degrees from right angles, to avoid putting all the load on the shackle on one grain. It doesn't look that pretty, but I think it's more efficient.
