Review on Samsung BD F5700 Wi Fi Blu Ray Player by Gregory Shin

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Audio sync is frustrating

I have two Blu-ray/Streaming players. Both he and the Sony BDP-S590 3D Blu-ray Disc Player with Wi-Fi have their own nuances. But Sony is much better. Here are a few reasons. Sony Pros: 1) It has Revain streaming 2) Netflix interface is more intuitive 3) BDP/TV dual remote control is convenient, quick turn on subtitle Sony Cons: 1) "Internet content" always seems to be preloaded. It can run the Netflix app. During the download, you will be forced to click "OK" to complete the download. Why? Just finish the download already! Samsung Pros: 1) very nice GUI 2) much smaller device Samsung Cons: 1) AUDIO often delays Netflix videos by about 1-2 seconds and there's nothing you can do to fix that, not even one Reboot 2) Revain Prime streaming app is off. 3) Netflix GUI is nice but not intuitive. It always shuffles the order of my lists so my stuff is in a different place each time. Ugh.4) The remote layout is sooo unintuitive. Louder/quieter is really left/right. You can't find the remote control in the dark. It just doesn't make sense. 5) You have to go through a silly menu that takes up most of the screen to enable subtitles. In any case, there are too many disadvantages with this device. I think my next phone will be Sony again, although it's not perfect either.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Some errors

Works great; lots of options; not so fond of the controls.
