This caliper works very well straight out of the box. A working battery is already installed (an additional battery is also included). The reproducibility is good. After zeroing, I expanded the jaws and watched the distance increase, then squeezed them again until they made contact and the measured distance went back to 0. As a test of internal and external clearance capabilities, I measured the inside diameter of my espresso machine's portafilter basket, which came out at 58.8mm by espresso standard. I then measured the outside diameter of my "coffee divider" which should fit the portafilter basket fairly snugly and got a reading of 58.4mm. The instrument is nicely packaged to sit comfortably in a small plastic case. The instructions are clear, but it's still very intuitive. The product is made in China. I received this item for free as a Vine reviewer. My review is honest and objective as if I paid for the product.
