Review on Tustin Keyed Entry Lever: Antimicrobial Protection & SmartKey Security in Polished Brass by Lance Alvarez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well, great features, some installation tips

The lock works great and looks fantastic. Here are some notable features that make this lock stand out: - Smart key means we could fit the key into the lock with our current key, so we didn't have to cut out a new set of keys for everyone - There is a plate for the cover screws and makes them invisible after installation, which is more aesthetically pleasing - The lock includes a mechanism to facilitate screwing the two sides together and can only be performed by one person - This is ANSI Grade 2, providing greater security and durability than ANSI -Class 3 locks used by many large stores - customer service is helpful. We had some initial issues installing it, but a Kwikset representative walked us through the installation over the phone. Also, a few tips to help you with the installation: - If you need to change the direction of the lever, use the supplied hex key. To remove the handle, use needle nose pliers or a regular screwdriver to remove the silver metal clip from the lock, rotate the lock 180 degrees, and then reinsert the clip and handle. For a video of this process, see Alec Wiking's "UPDATED: How to Remove the Kwikset Smartkey Lock Cylinder" on YouTube. If your lever doesn't turn, use a hex wrench to tighten the hidden set screw. The lever needs to be very tight to work. In general very satisfied. We are progressively updating all of the doorknobs and levers in our home and this will be the sixth Kwikset we have installed in the last year or so. So far, so good. This was mounted on the front door. Brass looks great on dark doors.
