Tustin Keyed Entry Lever: Antimicrobial Protection & SmartKey Security in Polished Brass Review

We have smart keys and deadbolts on all our doors. How easy it was to change the key when the unreliable guest left our house. The only issue I have with this recent purchase is that the installation instructions are not very clear when it comes to going from the left door to the right door and the purchase description does not specify the size of the door opening required for installation is required. Other than that, it's a solid product with a great key changing feature.

The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that it took me a while to figure out how to change the direction of the lock. Left door against right door. The instructions are poor. Great guide on how to drill a hole in a panel door to install, but I think most DIYers already have a pre-drilled door. I replaced some old door handles with this cam lock. The lock was easy to adjust to get the required orientation and it was fairly easy to change the orientation of the lock slot to match my deadbolt. This lock uses the Kwikset SmartKey backplane mechanism, eliminating the need for a locksmith. If the old lock is a Kwikset key, the old key can be reused without the need to cut new keys. The lock comes with instructions and it takes a few seconds to toggle.

I bought this as the best complement to my old Kwikset Tustin Lever Knobs. This is Kwikset's best match, but the grip is clearly not up to the quality of the old 2002 models.
