Review on Automatic Aquarium Accuracy Submersible Thermometer by Kim Norman

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good feeder. Good value for money, ideal for daily feeding.

This cheap feeder has been working great for 2 months now. At first I bought it only for use during the holidays, but now I understand that it is very useful for daily feeding. Now I can focus on other things like watching the fish and of course keeping the tank clean. The feeder uses a spinning wheel and gravity to open the door and drop the feed out of the storage area. There's nothing magical here, but I imagine the engineers put a lot of thought into how this is supposed to work. ADVANTAGES: - Possibility to feed several times a day. I set it to 7am and 7pm. - Ability to throw food in two rounds. The reason for this is that the first spin usually produces less food as food sometimes sticks and therefore the first spin is used to "break" stuck food. Then the second spin gives more nourishment. This could also be considered cheating but I think the engineers did a good job realizing that this could be a problem and they gave you that option as an option. The amount of feed is adjustable. There is a small sliding door that controls the amount of food served. It's easy to slide, you just need to check and adjust. It has the potential to feed very little, or conversely, you can dump a "truck" of food on your fish. - Fits perfectly on the back of my fish tank. It uses a plastic vise to fit snugly on the rim of the tank and is easy to remove when I need to clean the tank. It's also the perfect size for the cutout on the back of my lid. Runs on batteries. It's nice not having to mess with another cable. Also good during power outages (although if there's a power outage of more than a day, I'm probably the last thing on my mind!) - Manual feeding option. You can just press a button and the device spins once for a quick special feed. CONS: The storage bin is difficult to remove when you need to clean or add more food. I've only done it once and I feel lucky. You have to pull and twist just enough to loosen it, but it seems to me that if I pull or twist too hard, the device could break. That is the main reason why I give 4 and not 5 stars. The only option is the battery. It would be nice to be able to connect the device with a backup battery if necessary. I haven't had any pre-installed batteries that failed; The instructions say the device will notify me when the batteries are low. So I check every few days to make sure. Final Thoughts: - I check the unit every week to make sure the food is still coming out. - The device holds enough food. I only have 3 fish; but it seems that it will last for about 6 months. I use fish flakes, no pellets or anything like that. I crumble the cereal before putting it in the container just to make sure the cereal doesn't get too big and fall out of the container. I think this is a very good daily feeder. This will give you a more even feeding, especially when there are multiple members of the family trying to feed the fish and some are more generous than others. Don't forget to put the feeder back on the tank when you remove it to clean the tank! I've done this once and the food is of no use if it's on the table outside of the tank! Unless of course you have cats. In the box was a kind of immersion thermometer. I already have a thermometer connected, so I didn't use it. It's not like I want to swim around my aquarium.
