Review on Carbon Ultralite Motorcycle Puncture Repair by Charles Mistretta

For bicycles, not for motorcycles

The product I received was sold as a motorcycle tire repair kit but was a bicycle tire repair kit. The manufacturer's UPC clearly stated on the packaging that it was for use with bicycle tires, but the seller stuck a barcode sticker over the UPC and incorrectly identified it as a motorcycle tire repair kit. The difference can only be that the motorcycle kit uses longer patch inserts. The three inserts in this set are too short to patch a thicker motorcycle tire profile. I liked the idea of using a single tool to insert the patch, but brass-tipped smart inserts are proprietary and therefore expensive. I can buy replacement "bacon strips" inserts at truck stops, shops, etc. I returned this tubeless bike tire repair kit and bought a Victor version with two lightweight screwdriver-like tools: one rasp and the other a rasp. patch tool. I also bought a large pack of inexpensive generic bacon strip patch liners that Slime makes. The two smaller tools have the same volume and are lighter in my motorcycle toolbox than this tool, even though I got a motorcycle version instead of a bike version.

Pros
  • HOW IT WORKS: Easy and safe to use. Directions included. The tire does not need to be removed. No time to wait for glue.
Cons
  • Expensive
