Looks great, but is not an effective cork remover.

I've been opening wine bottles with this versatile corkscrew remover for over twenty years. This one from Snite Dynamics looks great with stainless steel details and rosewood grip covers. I was expecting great results but was so disappointed with the functionality that I had to deduct three stars. Here's why. The small blade that opens through the nail slot nearly cost me a broken nail. It was so tight when I tried to open it that I had to use pliers to help it out. (Yes I tried using a small tool in the groove but the resistance was too much). So I smeared quality oil on it and wiggled the blade back and forth fifty times and finally managed to open it, but it still requires two hands. You are unlikely to cut yourself with this dull blade with dull saw teeth. I did not manage to carefully pierce and remove the foil from the cork with this tool. The best I could do was take a shortcut and peel off the whole foil. The corkscrew was difficult to use. Due to the blunt tip there is no "bite". It was more difficult to start and unscrew the cork than other corkscrews I use. edge. Thanks to the rounded corners, I had to use extra lateral force to keep it in place. It was designed as a two stage cork remover, but the first stage was very difficult to keep in place. Conclusion! I had to use brute force to get this cork out while other openers would have made life easier. I ended up with this opener and threw it in the trash.
