Don't waste your money, buy something better

I have a 9 cup SS Ilsa but as you know you can't make an incomplete pot in a pot so I wanted a 3 cup pot have option to cook one portion. So I ordered these and received them a few days ago. The build quality is incredibly thin and thin. The rim of the grinder basket is so thin that I couldn't remove it after use if it was full of wet grinds. You can't stick a fingernail or the tip of a knife blade under it. I had to hit the water tank on the kitchen sink to turn it off. It fell to the bottom of my sink maybe 6 inches and that little drop bent the grounds basket. And of course I had to clear some debris from the sink. From the first pot, even before the above, there was a little leakage between the two pans even when screwed tightly. The inner surface of the water chamber is not smooth but rough with bumps and ridges. I only made a couple of pots with it, but the function is also worse. One of the appealing qualities of mocha pots is the ease of use, it doesn't take dozens of pots to "choose" how to use it, and I've had a 9-cup for years, but that's something that's terribly wrong. The pot takes forever to boil, much longer than my Ilse's, and I've tried three different grinds, from finer to coarser, with no results so far. I tamped lightly and not tamped at all, "No tamping" was even worse. There's never a decent jet of coffee, just a very anemic drip that may or may not be there. e. fill above. I'll keep trying different things to see if I can figure out how to actually use this pan, but my advice to anyone who wants a 3 cup mocha, don't waste your money on this cheap piece of crap and save some money is not worth the frustration and disappointment. Choose a well-known name like Bialetti or Ilsa. 2 stars because the taste is ok despite everything.
