Our cat Jumanji has been with us for many years but she has always used the pet door to go outside. She never used the tray. Well we've moved and the pet doors just don't work here. I don't like trays, I don't like cleaning them and I don't like having them in the house. But out of necessity we now have one. I also needed a place for their food and water, but in a place the dogs couldn't get to. That's great! She is placed in the corner of the hallway, closes the box and holds her food high enough that the dogs cannot reach it. I read some reviews that people were unhappy it didn't have a bottom. It's easier for me to clean. I don't have to put my hands on it. I can just pick it up and clean it from the inside. We put a rug underneath because of course the trash spills out. This allows me to pull out most of the box to clean it. I love that the magnet holds the door open while I do this. If extra cleaning is needed I can just lift it up and clean underneath. Very happy with the purchase!
