I bought this switch in addition to the GE Zwave switch as I wanted to see which one is better only to find that they both look the same and without the GE logo on the other side they are hard to tell apart! Then I found out that both are made by JASCO! In terms of quality, this switch does not differ from the GE test switch. Some of them will be exact copies of my other review. Packaging It came in a box with an instruction manual, an extra spatula and a white sweater. The manual contains many instructions and should be read if you are new to electrical installations. If you've never done electrical work before, I recommend calling a professional electrician. Wiring This is a "self-learning" device that will automatically determine which wire is NEUTRAL and which wire IS. So don't get confused if the device shows Line/Neutral on both poles. I read that other users were having a hard time getting it to work, so I followed Gen-1's pole placement: bottom pole as LIVE and top pole as NEUTRAL. Connection is very easy! I am not an electrician but I have changed many switches in my old house over the last 4 years. This was the EASIEST way to connect and tighten the bar and romex. Loosen screw, insert bare copper (1/2" length), tighten screw. If you have several switches next to each other (in my case 5 of them, 3 ZWave), it's very easy to keep a LIVE line. common since You can jump from one to another. Start. You don't have to do much to get these switches working. If you connected them correctly, once the power is on you should see the blue LED light up! I was able to turn it on and off immediately power off. Doesn't require a reboot/reset or anything. ZWave integration This is one area where the Honeywell switch has given me heartache and a sleepless night. I installed both GE and this one together and side-by-side on the first night my Nortek ZWave flash drive just didn't recognize it I almost ripped it up and sent it back The next morning I watched some videos and read the comments on Reddit and realized that you d RESET this switch! So when the switch LED is lit, quickly press up and down three times. If you did everything correctly, the LED will flash several times. NOW it's reset and ready. Now get the "ADD Knot" on the Home Helper and push the paddle up. You should see this switch after the network is restored. phew! The signal strength is actually quite good. Given that I have 2 other ZWave switches besides this one. No glitches and works well. I'll be keeping an eye on this change over time and will update this review if anything changes. If not, 5 stars is my rating!
