Terrible for fungus and painful to clean

When I first took it out of the box I was surprised at how heavy and durable the unit is. The metal covers are SOLID and the device doesn't feel cheap. However, I have a few problems with this device. 1) It is very difficult to clean. Products get stuck in the lower (black) part and because of the transverse ribs at the very bottom, they are not washed in the dishwasher or under running water. 100% of the time I have to take a paring knife and pick out each of the pieces of food. annoying! 2) I love that it has 2 different types of cuts and the first one (triangular cuts/pie cuts) works well. However, when you use the top slicer, it doesn't go all the way through the products. I can get the eggs to work by gently pulling the egg through with my hand, but with mushrooms the tip of the mushroom almost always comes loose and gets stuck in the wires. And this is for very fresh (hard) mushrooms. If your mushrooms are even a little soft, forget it. This will just make a mess and not cut them at all. Given that the main reason I bought it is to chop mushrooms, this is a deal breaker for me. Haven't tried it on strawberries yet, but I suspect they will look like mushrooms. I think if they swap out the cutting blades (putting the wedge knife over the flat knife wires) it might work better, but I don't see a way to do that with my unit.
