Review on 💡 GE Extension Lighting Insulated 36825: Enhancing Illumination Efficiency and Safety by Ryan Person

I liked the cords when I first received them. They are decently constructed, double insulated, strong yet flexible. The build quality is definitely better than my other cables with the same voltage/amperage. The price is good. I would give 5 stars. I got concerned when I plugged it in at medium load (9 amps/1000 watts, well below the 13 amps/1625 watts rating). The plug end got unusually hot (on a cool/cold spring evening) and on the second day it got quite hot during the day. The female end, like the rest of the line, stayed very cold even under the same load. This basically indicates that while the wires in the cable are fine, the connections to the pins on the connector end are quite loose, causing heat to build up, which is definitely a safety issue. I was hoping it was just a defective cable, so I replaced it with a different one. the second cable from the same pack (ordered 2 pack). It was really better, but I can still find that the male end is warmer than usual, for example significantly warmer than the female end and the rest of the cable. Again, this indicates that the wires are fine, but the connections to the connectors are weak. To make sure I wasn't biased, I substituted my other cable with the same 13 amp/1625 watt rating (which I thought was cheap). Obviously it was cooler at the male end, and the temperature at the female end and the cable itself was about the same as this cable. Given that both cables from the 2x kit showed the same issue (connector end getting abnormally warm/hot) while one cable is better than the other, this sounds like a potential design or manufacturing issue, not a single defective part . For this reason I have decided to return the product rather than replace it. For the good processing quality of the rest of the cable, I award 2 stars instead of 1 star.
